New website invites nominations for school district awards

Now's the time to nominate for Distinguished Service, Kohl Fellowship and Joe Thomas Student Awards

 

Employees and friends of the Madison Schools, and citizens in the Greater Madison community are encouraged to log onto www.mmsd.org/dsa to nominate employees, citizens and students for the Madison Metropolitan School District's (MMSD) annual recognition awards. Awards are given in 11 categories including:

  • Elementary Teachers
  • Middle School Teachers
  • High School Teachers
  • Teams
  • Support Personnel (Counselors, Librarians, Social Workers, Nurses, Speech Pathologists, OT/PT staff, Psychologists)
  • Clerical/Technical Personnel (Secretaries, Technicians, Clerical Assistants)
  • Custodians/Trades Personnel
  • Food Service Personnel
  • Administrators
  • Educational Assistants
  • Citizen Volunteers

This year a newly launched website features nomination forms and guidelines for the Distinguished Service Award for Staff and Citizens, the Joe Thomas Community Service Award for Students, information on the Kohl Teacher Fellowship, a list of all previous award recipients as well as highlights of the 2007 awards ceremony.

For those interested in submitting a nomination, the website will also feature a sample nomination form to help illuminate the process for first-time nominators.

The deadline for nominations is Wednesday January 30, 2008.

On Monday April 14th, 2008, the MMSD Recognition Awards will mark its 25th year with a ceremony to be held at the La Follette High School Auditorium at 7pm.
