National Inclusive Schools Week was celebrated last month with great enthusiasm by staff and students at all levels of the MMSD. This year's Inclusive Schools Week Theme, "Lessons from the World: Including All Children" was commemorated through a photo project depicting "A Day in the Life of an Inclusive School." A total of 125 disposable cameras were distributed to all schools to capture and celebrate the inclusive practices within their school community.

An overwhelming response across the MMSD resulted in the submission of over 3,000 images that conveyed their school's inclusive practices for all students. Photos submitted were representative of their learning community's diversity in ability, gender, race, culture, and sexual orientation. Photos selected fit the description of inclusion, provided a range of diversity, included collaborative scenes, conveyed a strong message, and utilized good artistic composition.

Photos chosen are prominently displayed within the Doyle Administration Building. Additionally, those schools whose photos were chosen were the recipients of and received resources to further promote their school's inclusive practices.
