Five Principals Chosen for Leadership Project

$story_data->{subheadline}

MMSD principals Linda Allen of Thoreau, Sheila Briggs of Schenk, Bev Cann of Lowell, Ed Holmes of West and Mary Kelley of Black Hawk Schools have been selected along with 25 other urban principals to lead the state in developing the Master Administrator's Model for DPI, called the Wallace Fellows' Project.

"It is quite an honor for these principals to be selected," said Assistant Superintendent Sue Abplanalp. "This Project is a unique and exceptional professional development opportunity for practicing urban principals to join in a community of learners."

The project is designed to collaboratively develop a state and national model for the assessment of master-level principals to demonstrate how building-level leadership in urban school settings can significantly improve student academic performance.

It's also meant to foster individual growth and advance urban school leadership.

This is a joint effort with DPI, UW-Madison, UW-Milwaukee and Cardinal Stritch University.
