Lynne Gabrielson, Mendota Elementary

Lynne Gabrielson, Mendota Elementary
DSA Award Recipient — Support Personnel

The category of "Support Personnel" doesn't quite capture the role played by Speech and Language specialist Lynne Gabrielson. An expert pathologist, teacher, team leader and dedicated employee, Lynn's impact is felt far and wide.

In any endeavor during her 29 years with the Madison Schools, Lynne has always been a pivotal person. At Mendota Elementary families cherish her commitment to their child's every success whether she's guiding them through an IEP meeting, introducing them to adaptive technology, joining in the fun on Literacy Nights, helping with yearbook or organizing the annual Grandparent's Dinner.

Staff looks to Lynne for her big picture focus as she serves on the school's steering committee, chairs the School Home Collaboration Action Team and provides leadership on the Building Consultation Team.

The UW Madison relies on her expertise as a lead researcher in a critical longitudinal study. In districtwide trainings, Lynne is a highly respected problem-solver and consultant on the cutting-edge.

Everyone who connects with Lynne is struck by her positive and effective style. Professional and caring are words consistently used to describe this dynamic woman. While her dedication to her field is fierce, her desire to improve the lives of children is equally tenacious.
