She's been called an "icon of the Franklin/Randall community". Dee Nicolai knows each Franklin Elementary child, and quite often their family members as well.

Inside the bright office, it's not unusual to see a line of folks waiting to talk to Dee. If she can't answer your question, you'll surely be treated with plenty of TLC. A weekend phone call to the home of a child with a broken leg, or a welcoming conversation with a Spanish-speaking family, are a few examples of Dee's dedication.

This quiet and unassuming secretary is also a professional who's kept her skills and knowledge on the cutting edge. Principals, parents, volunteers and teachers are more effective in their roles because Dee is beyond comparison in hers.

Systems are in order and ready to go. From volunteer sign-in to recordkeeping for the annual dance, Dee's attention to detail lightens the load. She's unflappable in times of stress, adept at handling 911 calls and disgruntled parents. Her caring extends beyond her job description.

She's also a coordinator of employee giving campaigns, a volunteer at Bayview Community Center, and always a builder of positive school climate. Dee Nicolai is the backbone and the heart of Franklin Elementary School.
