Schools of Hope Literacy Project

The Schools of Hope Literacy Project allows you the chance to work with a child one-on-one to develop his or her literacy skills. Per the individual teacher's request, you may spend your time with the student reading, writing, and/or playing literacy games together. As you spend more time with the child each week, you will develop a relationship that may even be carried on into the next year.

No experience is necessary, but it may be beneficial to have some experience working with children. Training sessions are offered periodically and are strongly recommended, though they are not mandatory. Volunteers must be willing to commit at least one hour per week of service. In addition, please be advised that all volunteers in MMSD schools must submit to a background check to ensure the safety of all students.
