Validators

Validators check to make sure the HTML on your pages is correct. They do this by checking your page against the Document Type Definition (DTD) you said you followed. That's what the <!DOCTYPE ... > line is all about: it's where you declare which DTD you're following.

WDG's Validator

This is the one we use in the courses.
This site can validate published pages, pages on your computer, or snippets of HTML you cut and paste into their form. Also has user-friendly error messages, and links from each element to a page describing that element.

W3C's Validator

This validator comes from the World Wide Web Consortium, the folks who write the official HTML recommendation. This service only validates published pages.

Checkers

HTML Checkers allow you to put your pages through various tests in order for you to see how they do in situations with which you might not be familiar. They require that your pages be published already.

Bobby

Bobby allows you to test the accessibility of your pages for all visitors.

Doctor HTML v5

This site checks for certain HTML problems, spelling and if links are dead. Very useful, except the site calls HTML elements "commands," which may be confusing. HTML has no "commands."

Web Stuff - HTML Authoring Services

This site offers many tests to see what others might get when they access your pages. It can be very handy!

This site checks various features of a given Web page.
