8th Grade Travel Project
So you want to visit ???? |
Get ready to plan a trip to your dream location! You're going to figure out how you'll get there and where you'll stay during your visit. We'll research the weather so you'll know how to pack, and then you'll figure out what there is to do in your spot. The bad news is that we can't really afford to send you on your trip. The good news is that you can spend as much money as you want to! |
| Itinerary | Now that you've decided where you'll visit, we'll check out some flights at Yahoo! Travel. Have you ever flown? Since you don't have a budget, you may want to consider searching for a first class ticket! The seats are much more comfortable and the food it better too. Some of your prices may be in a foreign currency. Use Oanda to convert your foreign currency to US dollars. |
| Weather | This project will focus on weather. We'll make a weather graph in class to remind you how to use XP Excel. Then you'll gather data about the weather in your travel destination, and you'll graph that data. These sites may be helpful to you: |
| Travel Story | You'll find statistical information about your travel destination using the World Book Encyclopedia, the CIA World Fact Book, City-Data and the US Census Bureau. What will you do in your travel destination? Do you like museums? Parks? Shopping? The beach? See if you can find an online newspaper from your travel destination. Here's an international newspaper directory called Daily Earth. You're going to be writing a 5 paragraph essay. The first paragraph is the introduction and the last paragraph is the conclusion. The middle 3 paragraphs will showcase what you'll do on your vacation. I want you to find at least 3 places to visit. Find the hours their open, the cost for children and adults, and tell why people like to visit the attraction. I'd suggest you take a look at Frommer's and Lonely Planet. Here's are your requirements and a sample story. |
