3. Question: A description of the educational program of the school

Response: The mission of Madison Middle School 2000 (MMS 2000) is to provide opportunities for all students to acquire knowledge, skills, and confidence necessary for productive participation in an evolving technological society. The philosophy of MMS 2000 focuses on three major strands; multicultural/multiethnic curriculum, completed integrated thematic instruction, and technology.

The school is committed to addressing new ways in which teaching and learning occur. It is dedicated to helping all students experience educational success. MMS 2000 is a school of choice, open to students grades six through eight. The school is interested in establishing partnerships with the university, parents, social services, and businesses in the community.

Response: The student body at MMS 2000 is selected on an annual basis according to the following criteria:

      1. Gender - 40 males and 40 females
      2. Racial - 60% majority students - 40% minority students
      3. Academic ability - a mixture of TAG students, students working at grade level and students identified as learning disabled will comprise the total population.
      4. Economic - 20% of the students in each class will qualify for free and reduced lunch
